Dong Hung Footwear Innovation
Product development work at Dong Hung Footwear Group

Product Development

Where a drawing becomes a shoe that can be built.

Our Product Development Centre works directly with brand designers and technical teams — lasts, uppers, soles, materials and fitting handled inside the group.

The centre

One development team, not a relay of departments.

The Product Development Centre is led by Mr. Chu Hai Ha. Design interpretation, pattern engineering, sole tooling direction and material sourcing sit together, so a change in one workstream is answered by the others in the same loop.

Development and sample work at Dong Hung Footwear Group

Development path

Six stages between the brief and a costed, production-ready style.

01

Brief

We start from your brief rather than from our catalogue: target consumer, price architecture, season, volume and the construction you have in mind.

  • Project brief
  • Feasibility view
  • Indicative timeline

Business Development

02

Design

Sketches, references or a finished tech pack are reviewed with our developers to align aesthetics with construction, tooling and material reality.

  • Design review
  • Construction proposal
  • Material direction

Product Development Centre

03

Development

Last selection or modification, pattern engineering, sole tooling direction and material sourcing run together to protect the launch date.

  • Last spec
  • Pattern set
  • Material board

Product Development Centre

04

Sampling

Prototype to salesman sample to confirmation sample, each round documented so comments are traceable between the brand and the factory.

  • Prototype
  • Fit sample
  • Confirmation sample

Sample Room

05

Engineering

Operation breakdown, cutting yield, stitching sequence and assembly method are engineered before the style reaches production.

  • Operation sheet
  • Line balance
  • Consumption sheet

Industrial Engineering

06

Costing

Upper, sole, components, labour, packaging, overhead and freight are itemised so the brand can see what drives the FOB, not just the FOB.

  • Costed BOM
  • Target vs. current
  • FOB proposal

Capability detail

What the centre actually does.

Brief

  • Direct dialogue with development and commercial leads, not an agent
  • ODM and OEM programmes (ODM operations since 2005)
  • Fashion, vulcanised and semi-athletic construction in scope
  • Group structure: Hiep Tri Shoes, Duy Hung Shoes, Dong Hung Industry JSC

Design

  • Dedicated Product Development Centre
  • Design interpretation from sketch, reference or full tech pack
  • Construction and tooling advice given before cost is locked
  • Material direction supported by group supporting industries

Development

  • Last selection and modification
  • Pattern engineering for yield and manufacturability
  • Sole tooling direction managed inside the group
  • Material and component sourcing support

Sampling

  • Dedicated sample room
  • Documented comment sheets between brand and factory
  • Fit correction on last and pattern
  • Sealed confirmation sample as the line reference

Engineering

  • Industrial engineering team
  • Operation breakdown and standard time setting
  • Line balancing across three group factories
  • Consumption and yield fixed before bulk

Costing

  • Line-item costing rather than a single FOB number
  • Value engineering options presented with cost impact
  • Material substitution modelled before commitment
  • Freight and packaging included in the view

01

Development

Lasts, patterns, sole tooling direction and materials developed in parallel inside the Product Development Centre.

02

Sampling

Prototype, fit and confirmation rounds documented so comments stay traceable between brand and factory.

03

Industrialisation

Operation breakdown, line balance and consumption engineered before a style is released to the line.

04

Control

Incoming material control, in-line checkpoints and final random inspection feeding corrective action back upstream.

Send us a sketch, a reference or a full tech pack.
